In 1974, fresh from college with a degree in marketing, Robert Kaufman transformed his lifelong passion for electronics into a pioneering business that helped shape the custom installation industry. Working from his parents’ garage, Robert and then-partner Brian Hagerty developed the first-ever digital multi-room audio control system—founding what would become Audio Command Systems (ACS).
Over his 45+ years of leadership, Robert has guided ACS to national prominence, consistently innovating to meet the evolving needs of architects, designers, and luxury homeowners. The philosophy of "Smarter by Design" is embedded in every ACS project, a testament to Robert’s unwavering commitment to integration, simplicity, and long-term reliability. With strategic offices in New York, Los Angeles, Boca Raton, and Norwalk, Robert continues to lead ACS alongside President Jonathan Flamm, focusing on delivering the most refined smart home experiences in the industry.
Jonathan Flamm
President
Jonathan Flamm has been with Audio Command Systems for over four decades. A graduate of Rhode Island School of Design and Stanford University, he holds a Master’s degree in Industrial Design. Early in his career, Jonathan launched ACS’s California office and even developed product lines used by both ACS and fellow AV firms during the formative years of the industry.
Relocating to New York in 1982, Jonathan has since overseen the company’s sustained growth, working alongside Robert Kaufman to shape ACS into a leader in high-end home and commercial automation. His design-first thinking and encouragement of "smarter by design" principles continue to inspire teams across all locations.
Tom Clancy
Executive Vice President
Tom Clancy is an industry veteran with a deep-rooted passion for home technology. Starting as an installation technician, he quickly advanced through multiple leadership roles—Project Supervisor, Senior Project Manager, and Senior VP of Residential Systems—before becoming Executive Vice President.
In his role, Tom provides day-to-day operational leadership, overseeing ACS’s management team and aligning company strategies to ensure consistent service excellence. He is also a CEDIA Certified Outreach Instructor (COI), engaging architects and designers through technology education. Outside of ACS, Tom dedicates time to coaching youth sports and serves on multiple industry boards, including the HTSA Board of Directors.
